Broken Bow Sends 6 to the Semis and Lead Class C After Day One of State Wrestling Tournament

It was a big day for the Broken Bow wrestling team at day one of the state wrestling championships in Omaha. Bow saw all 8 of its qualifiers win their opening round match and 6 qualified for Friday’s semifinals including Spencer Gaffney at 120, Casey Faulkenberry at 126, Cole Ulmer at 152, Lathan Duda at 170, Colton Duda at 195, and Drew Drake at 285. Trey Brooks (182) and Keifer Anderson (220) went 1-1 on the day and will wrestle in today’s consolation round. After day one Bow leads Class C with 68 points and Valentine is second with 53 points.

Several area wrestlers qualified for the semis in Class D. Teven Marshall of Mullen at 113,
Joel Ostrom of Burwell at 138, Colby Coons of Twin Loup at 152, Seth Simants of Stapleton at 160, Corey Dawn of Burwell at 182, and Jakob Jerabek at 285.
