Broken Bow Qualifies 5 Athletes for State Track at B5 District Meet

Broken Bow participated at the B-5 District Track and Field championships in Aurora Thursday (5/10). The Indians qualified five individuals for the state track and field championships in Omaha next week. Grayson Garey qualified in 2 events. Garey placed third in the boys 400 meters as the top 3 places in all individual running events qualified for state. Garey then was crowned the district champ in the boys 200 in a photo finish. Garey, running out of lane 8 posted the winning time of 23.38 seconds. Joel Myers was the district champion in the boys pole vault. Myers cleared 14’2″ for the win. Matt Ambler finished 4th in the boys pole vault but cleared the automatic qualifying height of 13’2″ to advance to the state meet. Lindsay Schauda qualified in the girls 300 meter hurdles with a third place finish and Lexie Foster qualified for state in the girls 3200 meter run with a 2nd place finish.

Others who placed in the top 6 of their event included : Lindsay Schauda – 4th in the girls 400 meters ; Rylee Dickau – 5th in the girls pole vault ; Tycen Marten – 6th in the boys 100 meters ; Grayson Garey – 4th in the boys long jump ; Debora Crippa – 5th in the girls long jump ; Kate Fox – 4th in the 1600 ; and the girls 4×800 relay team of Kate Fox, Ryen Haines, Kali Staples, and Jennifer Hilera placed 4th.
