The Broken Bow American Legion juniors and seniors baseball teams traveled to O’Neill on Saturday for a doubleheader. The Bow juniors collected their 20th win of the season winning 14-2. The Bow bats came alive in the latter innings as they scored 4 runs in the 4th, 3 in the 5th, and then closed it out with 5 runs in the 6th. Caden Holm had a big day at the plate going 4 for 4 including 3 doubles and 6 RBI. Max Denson was 4 for 5 with 4 RBI and Carter Johnson was 3 for 4 with 4 runs scored as the Broken Bow offense collected 16 hits in the win. Austin Harvey was the winning pitcher giving up just 2 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings of work with 9 strikeouts. Brice Chaplin pitched an inning of scoreless relief and struck out 2. The Bow juniors are still undefeated improving to 20-0 overall.
It took awhile for the Bow seniors to get their offense going but they finally did as they came back to defeat O’Neill Saturday 11-6. Broken Bow scored 10 of their 11 runs in their last two at bats. Bow trailed 4-1 after 5 innings but then scored 5 in the sixth and 5 more in the seventh to secure the win. Blake Denson was 3 for 5 with 4 RBI and Eli Coble was 4 for 5 to help lead the offensive attack. Broken Bow improves their seniors record to 15-7-1.
The Bow juniors and seniors will next host Valentine for a doubleheader at Paul Brown Field on Tuesday. Youth showing up to the ballpark in their DYO jersey/shirt will receive free admission into the game.
