Broken Bow Legion Baseball Splits Doubleheader with St. Paul

The Broken Bow Legion baseball teams split a doubleheader with St. Paul on Tuesday night at Paul Brown Field. The Bow seniors fell in their home opener 9-8. It was a back and forth game as Broken Bow held a 7-5 lead going into the 7th inning but St. Paul would send 10 men to the plate and score 4 runs in the 7th to take the lead 9-7. Broken Bow would come back and score a run in the bottom of the 7th inning to make the score 9-8 and had the bases loaded when Brody Ridder put a ball in play that was handled by St. Paul’s shortstop Ashton Meinike who stepped on 2nd base for the final out of the game. Broken Bow managed just 6 hits in the game. Brody Ridder had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs. Eli Coble finished 1 for 3 with an RBI and 3 runs scored.

The Bow juniors improved to 4-0 on the season by holding off St. Paul 8-4. Brice Chaplin was the winning pitcher giving up 3 runs on 3 hits with 5 strikeouts in 4 innings of work. Eli Coble pitched 3 innings of relief giving up just 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 6. Brice Chaplin was 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Eli Coble was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Zach Loy was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in.
