Broken Bow Juniors Win Opening Game at Area Tournament ; Loup City Falls to PWG

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors baseball team advanced into the winners’ bracket of the Class B Area 6 tournament Friday with a 3-1 win over Gothenburg. Gothenburg struck first as Wes Geiken led the game off with a single and would come around to score to put the Melons on top 1-0. Broken Bow would respond in the bottom half of the first as the first four batters reached base and three came into score. The big hit of the inning was a 2 rbi single by Sawyer Bumgarner. The score was 3-1 after one inning and that’s the way it would stay.
