Broken Bow Juniors Suffer First Loss of the Tournament But Will Still Play for Championship Tuesday

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors baseball team suffered its first loss of the Class B Area 6 tournament Monday night falling to O’Neill 3-2. Each team scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning and the score stayed tied going into the 7th inning. In the 7th, O’Neill got a lead off double from Parker Heiss who would come around to score the go ahead run and make the score 3-2 going to the bottom of the 7th. Broken Bow got a 1 out single from Sawyer Bumgarner to put the tying run on base. Kaden McKean came on to pinch run and was able to advance over to third base with one out but Bow could not advance him any further as O’Neill held on for the one run victory. With the win, O’Neill stays alive in the tournament and will play McCook Tuesday night at 5:30 in another elimination game. McCook stayed alive in the tournament Monday with an 11-0 five inning win over Minden. Since it is Broken Bow’s first loss of the tournament, Bow still advances to the championship game where they will play the winner of the McCook / O’Neill game tomorrow night for the area tournament championship. The championship game will immediately follow the McCook / O’Neill game and will be broadcast live on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com
