Broken Bow Juniors See Season End at State Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors baseball team saw their season come to an end Sunday at the Class B state tournament in McCook. Bow lost in an elimination game to McCook 8-3. It was the fifth time the two met this season. McCook would score a run in each of the first two innings to take the early lead. The score would stay 2-0 until the fifth inning when Broken Bow finally got on the board. With two out in the fifth, Cyrus Wells kept the inning alive with a base hit and was driven in by Caden Holm who singled in the next bat. McCook was able to answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth and then added 4 insurance runs in the sixth to make the score 8-1 heading to the 7th. Kaden McKean and Brody Ridder would score for Bow in the 7th inning but the comeback fell short as McCook held on for an 8-3 win. Sawyer Bumgarner and Blake Denson each had multi-hit efforts for Broken Bow which finishes the season with an overall record of 13-13.
