Broken Bow hosted its annual track and field invitational at Mark Russell Field on Thursday. Cozad claimed the girls team title with 94 points followed by O’Neill with 92 points and McCook was third with 72 points. Helping lead the way for the Lady Haymakers were Megan Burkholder who took first in the girls pole vault by clearing 10’6″. McKenzie Lee of Cozad won the girls long jump (15’10.5″) Kennedy Berreckman of Cozad won the girls high jump by clearing 5′ and Cozad won the girls 4×100 meter relay in a time of 51.67. Claiming medals for Broken Bow on the day included Lindsay Schauda (2nd – 300 meter hurdles) ; Kaylee Peterson (5th – 300 meter hurdles and 5th – 100 meter hurdles) ; Lexie Foster (3rd – 1600 and 4th – 3200) ; Kali Staples (6th – 1600 and 5th – 3200).
Scottsbluff claimed the boys team title with 141 points. McCook was second with 112 points and Holdrege was third with 94. Broken Bow medal winners included: Kevin Linn (5th – 300 meter hurdles and 5th – High Jump) ; Riley Peterson (6th – Shot Put and 5th – Discus) ; Joel Myers (2nd – pole vault). Other area highlights on the boys side included Trenton Harbur of Gothenburg winning the 400 (52.25) and Tyce Hruza of Gothenburg won the pole vault by clearing 14′.
