The Broken Bow girls golf team will begin their season Thursday when they travel to compete at the Kearney Catholic Invitational. The Lady Indians have 17 participants in the program this year. Broken Bow qualified for the Class C state tournament last season and finished 5th overall as a team but on the final day of the tournament they turned in a 377 team score which was the lowest 18 hole team score of the two day tournament. All five varsity golfers from last year’s state qualifying team return this year. Earlier this month, KCNI/KBBN sports visited with Broken Bow girls golf coach Kelly Cooksley who said last year’s state performance, especially what happened on the second day, helps create motivation for this season.
The Kearney Catholic Invite is scheduled to tee off at 9 am.
