Broken Bow Girls Golf Team Places 4th at C-4 District – Kailey Johnson / State Qualifier

The Broken Bow girls golf team competed at the C-4 district golf meet Monday at the Cozad Country Club. The top three teams and top ten individuals qualified for the state tournament. Broken Bow placed 4th as a team. Kearney Catholic was the district champion with a 361 team total. Cozad qualified for state in 2nd place and Cambridge qualified in third. Kailey Johnson of Broken Bow qualified for state by finishing 7th individually with an 87. Johnson is now a three time state qualifier and will compete at the Class C State Tournament in North Platte next Monday and Tuesday. Madison Jackson was just one shot away from qualifying for state. Jackson finished tied for 11th with a 94 just one shot out of the top ten. Other Broken Bow scores included : Avery Campbell – 101, Graycee Oeltjen – 101, Mahala Sanchez – 104. Coach Kelly Cooksley commented after the tournament that he was proud of the way the team competed and that they “played good enough to qualify individuals and our team in any other district in the state”. The district champion was Lynzi Becker of Cozad who shot a low round of 80. Arcadia-Loup City was also among the teams that competed at Monday’s district meet. The Lady Rebels finished 8th with a team total 508 and were led by Kyla Phillips who finished tied for 19th with a 101.
