Broken Bow Girls Golf Team Competes at District Meet Today (10/4)

The Broken Bow girls golf team will look to qualify for the NSAA state girls golf championships today as they compete at the C-4 district meet. The first three teams and the first ten individual places plus ties will qualify for the NSAA Class C championship. It has been another strong season for the Broken Bow girls golf team. After winning the Class C state championship last year, the team has won the team title of every meet they have competed in this year except for the North Platte Invite where they finished third behind last year’s Class B champion Scottsbluff and last year’s Class A champion North Platte. Broken Bow claimed its second consecutive Southwest Conference championship last week and earlier this season set a new school record for low team score with a 318 during the Awarii Challenge at Awarii Dunes golf course at Axtell. Broken Bow girls golf head coach Kelly Cooksley visited with KCNI/KBBN sports last week during halftime of the Broken Bow / Kearney Catholic football game. The coach was asked if he liked the meet being held on a Monday.

Broken Bow will be joined at today’s district meet by the following teams: Arcadia/Loup City, Cambridge, Centura, Cozad, Doniphan-Trumbull, Gibbon, Gothenburg, GICC, Holdrege, Kearney Catholic, Minden, Ravenna, and St. Paul.

The Class C state girls golf championships will take place at Elks Country Club in Columbus on Monday, October 11 and Tuesday, October 12.
