Broken Bow Girls Basketball Team Advances to SWC Championship – Boys to Play in Consolation

The Broken Bow girls basketball team advanced to the championship game of the SWC tournament on Friday with a victory over Minden in the semifinals. The Lady Indians used a 20-8 run to close out the first half and pulled away for a 57-33 win. 11 players scored for Bow with Majesta Valasek leading the way with a team high 17. Broken Bow will play Ogallala for the girls championship on Saturday at 4:30 at Lexington High School. Ogallala defeated McCook 61-49.

Meanwhile, the Broken Bow boys fell to Ogallala 70-53 in the boys semifinals. Bow trailed by just 5 at the half but was outscored 33-21 in the second half as Ogallala was able to pull away for the win. Broken Bow was led by Josh Harvey’s 21 points. Cade Chapin scored 13 and Griffin Wright also finished in double figures with 11 points. In the other semifinal, Cozad defeated Ainsworth 65-51. Broken Bow will play Ainsworth in the boys consolation game at 2:45 while Cozad will play Ogallala for the boys champioship at 6:15.
