Broken Bow Girls Advance to SWC Semifinals – Broken Bow Boys Fall in Opening Round

The Broken Bow girls basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Southwest Conference basketball tournament with a 47-22 win over Valentine on Monday night. The Lady Indians led by just seven at the half but came out strong in the 3rd quarter outscoring Valentine 22-5 to take control. Eight players scored for Broken Bow led by Kya Scott who had a game high 10 points. MaKinley Tobey, Gaby Staples, and Kailyn Scott each had nine for the Lady Indians who improve to 14-3 on the season. Broken Bow advances to the SWC semifinals where they will play Ainsworth who defeated McCook 50-39. The game is scheduled for 6:30 Friday night at North Platte Community College. The game will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM. The other girls semifinal on Friday will feature Gothenburg against Minden. Gothenburg defeated Cozad 67-36 and Minden held off Ogallala 47-42.

In the opening round of the boys tournament, Broken Bow fell to #2 seed Ogallala 64-48. Broken Bow will play in the consolation round on Thursday in Gothenburg. The game will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM. Ogallala will face McCook in the semifinals. McCook defeated Gothenburg 68-45. On the other side of the bracket, top seed Ainsworth defeated Valentine 68-39 and Minden defeated Cozad 52-39.
