Broken Bow Falls to Waverly in Opening Round of Junior Legion State Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors baseball team opened play Saturday at the Class B American Legion Junior State Tournament in McCook. Bow matched up with Waverly in the opening round. Broken Bow took the early lead in the first inning when Blake Denson led off the inning with a walk and came around to score to give Broken Bow the lead. In the third inning, Caden Holm was hit by a pitch to start the inning and would come around to score to give Broken Bow a 2-0 lead after three innings. Waverly would get a run back in the top of the fourth and then would turn things around in the fifth when they sent 10 men to the plate and scored 4 runs to take a lead that they would not relinquish. Waverly added 4 more runs in the sixth, all coming with 2 out, and then added one more in the 7th for insurance. Broken Bow fought back to score 2 runs in the sixth and one in the 7th to make the final score 10-5. Blake Denson went 2 for 4 with a single and double to help lead the Broken Bow offense. Broken Bow will play in an elimination game Sunday at 1pm. The game will be broadcast live on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com.
