Broken Bow Competes at Dave Gee Track Invite

The Broken Bow track and field team competed at the Dave Gee Track Invite hosted by Northwest high school in Grand Island on Thursday. Aurora won the girls team title with 138 points. The Lady Indians finished with 58 points on the day. Northwest claimed the boys team championship with 185.5 points. Bow finished with 38 points. Some of the Broken Bow highlights included Lindsay Schauda taking gold in the girls 300 meter hurdles in a winning time of 48.47 seconds. Schauda also finished runner-up in the 400 in a time of 1:02.49. Kali Staples placed 2nd in the girls 1600 meters in a time of 5:37.83 and Kya Scott cleared the winning height of 4’10” in the girls high jump but after the tie break finished 2nd. Broken Bow’s Matt Ambler placed 2nd in the boys pole vault clearing 13’1″.

In other area notes, Cozad finished third in the girls team standings and were led by Brittney Aitken who won the girls 100 (12.8) and 200 (26.79). The Haymakers placed 5th in the final boys team standings highlighted by Matthew Schuster winning the boys 100 in a time of 11.48
