Broken Bow Boys Win First SWC Cross Country Championship Since 1971

It was a big day for the Broken Bow boys cross country team Thursday as it claimed its first Southwest Conference team championship since 1971.  Broken Bow placed 5 runners in the top 15.  Broken Bow was led by Noah Osmond who finished 5th in a time of 18:19.9.  Daine Wardyn was right behind in 6th (18:43.1).  Trey Hurlburt was 10th (19:10.4), Brock Oeltjen was 11th (19:23.4), and Casey Faulkenberry placed 12th (19:24.6).  The boys individual champion was William Anderson of Gothenburg
in a winning time of 17:33.4.

McCook won the SWC girls team championship.  Broken Bow finished 6th in the team standings.  The girls individual champion was Samantha Rodewald of McCook in a winning time of 20:40.3.  Makinley Tobey was Broken Bow’s top finisher placing 11th in a time of 22:38.5.
