Broken Bow Boys Cross Country Team and Other Area Athletes Qualify for State Cross Country Championships

The Broken Bow boys cross country team finished runner-up at the C5 district meet in Ogallala on Thursday.  As a result, the Bow boys qualify as a team for the state cross country championships October 23rd in Kearney.  Bow had 3 runners place in the top 15 of the district.  Daine Wardyn placed 7th (17:14:01), Noah Osmond was 9th (17:38.97), and Trey Hurlburt was 12th (17:51.09).  Broken Bow’s Makinley Tobey qualified for state as an individual on the girls side finishing 9th overall in the district with a time of 20:49.56.

Other area girls state cross country qualifiers include Burwell’s Jymmie Jensen who placed 6th in the D4 district with a time of 21:16.4.  Three area athletes qualified out of the D5 district as Landyn Cole of South Loup placed third (21:48.18), Jessie Heyen of Arcadia/Loup City was 9th (23:16.31), and Josie Smith of SEM was 11th (23:35.96).  Callie Coble of Mullen was D6 district girls champion in a winning time of 20:04.85.  Joining her at state will be teammate Josey French who placed 4th (21:35.41)

The Sandhills Valley (Stapleton/McPherson County) boys cross country team qualified for state by finishing 3rd in the D5 district.  The Mavericks placed two in the top 15 led by Colin Rooney who was 4th (18:09.41), and Jared Trimble was 15th (19:07.41).  Also qualifying from the D5 district was Arcadia/Loup City’s Ty Greenland who was 7th (18:35.91), and Jarrod Gappa who was 11th (18:51.12).  The Mullen boys qualified for state as a team finishing runner up in the D6 district.  Mullen’s Trevor Kuncl was the district champion in a winning time of 17:17.08.  Also finishing in the top 15 was Hayden Jennings of Mullen who placed 8th (18:41.79).
