Broken Bow Boys and Girls Advance to SWC Semi-Finals

The Broken Bow boys and girls basketball teams each advanced to the semi-finals of the Southwest Conference basketball tournament with opening round wins on Monday night. The Lady Indians made six 3’s in the first half to build a 36-15 halftime lead and went on to win over Cozad 57-25. Broken Bow was led by Majesta Valasek who finished with a game high 15. Kya Scott finished with 13 and Kailyn Scott also finished in double figures with 10. Broken Bow advances to Friday’s semifinal against Minden who defeated Valentine 52-36. In other SWC girls first round action, Ogallala defeated Ainsworth 69-22 and McCook defeated Gothenburg 51-45.

The 3 point shot was big for the Broken Bow boys team as they knocked down ten of them in the game to pull away from Minden for a 64-43 win. The Indians had three players finish in double figures led by Josh Harvey with 20. Cade Chapin finished with 19 including five 3’s in the first half and Griffin Wright scored 16. Broken Bow advances to the boys SWC semifinals where they will play Ogallala who won over Valentine in the opening round. In other SWC boys first round action, Cozad defeated McCook and Ainsworth defeated Gothenburg.
