Broken Bow and Mullen Make Final OWH Girls Basketball Top Ten Rankings

The Broken Bow and Mullen girls basketball teams each finished in the top 10 of their respective class in the final rankings of the season put out by the Omaha World Herald.  Broken Bow was ranked #7 in the final Class C1 poll.  The Lady Indians completed the season at 23-2 and qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 2003.  Broken Bow won their fourth consecutive Southwest Conference tournament title and were D1-5 district champions this season.  State Champion North Bend Central was top ranked in Class C1 followed by Hastings St. Cecilia, Lincoln Lutheran, Winnebago, and GICC to round out the top five.  West Point Beemer was ranked 6th.

Mullen was ranked third in the final Class D2 poll.  The Lady Broncos finished the season at 26-3 including a third place finish at last week’s girls state basketball tournament.  Mullen was the MNAC girls conference tournament champions and claimed the D2-4 district championship this season.  Mullen fell just short against state champion Humphrey St. Francis in the state tournament semifinals but then edged defending champion Wynot in the state tournament 3rd place game 30-28.  St. Francis was top ranked in D2 followed by Falls City Sacred Heart.  Wynot was ranked #4 followed by Chambers Wheeler Central to round out the top five.
