Broken Bow and Mullen Each Fall Short in State Semifinals

The Broken Bow Indians fell to Winnebago Friday in the Class C1 Semifinals of the Nebraska boys state basketball tournament. Bow kept pace with the #2 seed for much of the game but just could never make that run to gain the lead as Winnebago held on for a 69-55 win. D’Von LaPointe and MaNaPe Cleveland were the leading scorers for Winnebago on the season and they led the way on Friday with 27 points each. Broken Bow was led by Kevin Linn who finished with a team 22. Bow will now play Lincoln Christian on Saturday in the 3rd place consolation game at Lincoln East High School at 11am. The game will be broadcast live on KBBN 95.3 FM and on Winnebago will play top seed Wahoo for the C1 championship Saturday morning at 9am at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Mullen Broncos fell short in their bid to repeat as Class D2 Champions. The Broncos were defeated by Riverside in the Class D2 semifinals 66-59 Friday night. Mullen held a 1 point lead at half but were outscored 33-25 in the 2nd half. Tredyn Prososki had a game high 22 for the victorious Chargers and Joseph Bloom added 19. The Broncos had three players finish in double figures. Koby Walker had a team 16 while Luke Christen finished with 15 and Brendan Walker finished with 12. The Broncos will play in the D2 3rd place consolation game against Giltner at 3pm at Lincoln East High School. The game will be broadcast live on KBBN 95.3 FM and on Riverside will play Falls City Sacred Heart on Saturday at 8:30pm for the D2 championship.
