Broken Bow and Cozad Split Basketball Doubleheader

Broken Bow hosted Cozad for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader Thursday night at the Indian gym.  The Broken Bow girls improved to 18-3 as they concluded the regular season with a 70-48 win.  Broken Bow led by just seven at halftime but methodically pulled away in the second half to secure the win.  The three point shot was big for the Lady Indians as they knocked down 12 from beyond the arc.  Nine players scored for Broken Bow led by seniors MaKinley Tobey, who had a game high 20 points, and Halle McCaslin, who finished with 19.  Janae Marten knocked down four 3’s in the game to finish with 12 points.  Cozad was led by Gracie Marhenke who finished with a team high 19.  Broken Bow will now prepare for the C1-10 sub district in Minden on Tuesday where they will face Holdrege.  The game will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com with tip off scheduled for 7 p.m.

In the boys game, Broken Bow battled tough but Cozad was able to pull away late in the fourth quarter to secure a 59-40 win.  Broken Bow knocked down nine 3’s in the game and was led by Gavin Carrizales who hit four 3’s to finish with a team high 12 points.  Cozad was led by Noah Shoemaker who had a game high 15.  Broken Bow will close out their regular season next week when they play at Amherst on Friday (2/16).

In other area action Thursday night, Mullen and Sandhills Valley split a girls and boys basketball doubleheader.  Mullen defeated Sandhills Valley in the girls game and Sandhills Valley defeated Mullen in the boys game 31-25.
