Broken Bow American Legion Seniors Compete at Wood Bat Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion Seniors baseball team competed at a wood bat tournament in Plattsmouth over the weekend.

In game one, Bow fell to the Millard Sox Seniors Gold team 7-1.  Bow jumped on the board early with a run in their first at bat as Blake Denson came across to score what would be Bow’s only run of the game.  Millard broke the game open with six runs in the third and added one more in the 4th.  Millard pitching held the Bow seniors to just 5 hits.  Blake and Max Denson each went 2 for 3 and Austin Harvey was 1 for 2.

In game 2, Bow’s offense was again held in check as Bow fell to DJ’s Dugout 9-1.  DJ’s would jump out early scoring 4 runs in the first then add 2 in the 4th and 3 more in the fifth to secure the win.  Brody Ridder came across to score Bow’s lone run in the fourth.  Broken Bow was held to just 4 hits.  Blake Denson was 2 for 3 while Keifer Anderson and Brody Ridder each finished 1 for 2.

In Bow’s final game of the tournament, the Bow seniors would face the Concordia Mustangs senior legion.  The game turned into a pitcher’s duel.  Concordia scored two runs in the first inning but would not score again.  The game stayed 2-0 until the 7th when Bow tried to mount a comeback.  Hagan Campbell drove in Kaden McKean to put Bow on the board but that would be as close as Bow would get as Concordia held on for a 2-1 win.  Max Denson started the game on the mound giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 6.  Hagan Campbell pitched two innings of relief giving up just one hit.  Blake Denson and Austin Harvey each had a multi-hit game with Denson finishing 2 for 3 while Havey went 2 for 2.

Next up for the Bow seniors is a game at Gothenburg June 2nd as part of a juniors / seniors doubleheader.  The seniors game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.
