Broken Bow American Legion Seniors Begin Play in Mid Nebraska League Tournament Tuesday

The Mid Nebraska League American Legion Seniors baseball tournament began with opening round games on Sunday.  In the west division, Imperial/Chase County defeated Holdrege 3-2 to advance.  In the east division, Grand Island shutout Shelton-Gibbon 8-0 and Kearney defeated St. Paul 11-3.

Broken Bow will begin tournament play tonight.  The Bow seniors are the #3 seed in the west division and will play at #2 seed Gothenburg.  Game time is scheduled for 6:30.  The two teams met twice in the regular season with each team winning on their home field.  Bow won the first meeting 14-6 and Gothenburg won the most recent meeting between the two 8-7.  The winner will advance to the west division championship game on Wednesday night against the winner of tonight’s game between Imperial and top seed Ogallala.  Tonight’s Broken Bow / Gothenburg game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on the web at kbbn.com.

In the east division, games tonight will feature top seed Palmer-Wolbach-Greeley hosting Grand Island at 7 pm and #2 seed Central City will host Kearney at 7 pm.

The west division champion will host the east division champion for the league title on Friday July 31st.
