Boys Town graduate Teddy Allen has received his release to transfer from West Virginia.

Allen announced Thursday it was in his “best interest” to leave the Mountaineers after one season. He played in 35 of 37 games as a true freshman, coming off the bench to average 7.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

West Virginia reached the Sweet 16 last season before falling to national champion Villanova. He scored at least eight points in all three NCAA tournament games, including 10 points against the Wildcats.

Allen made The World-Herald’s All-Nebraska team as a senior in 2017 after averaging 31.6 points and 13.0 rebounds for Boys Town. He was also the Gatorade player of the year.
