The Anselmo-Merna Coyotes advanced to the boys sub-state tournament with a 69-53 win over Burwell at the D1-10 subdistrict in Broken Bow Thursday night. A-M got a strong performance from Seth Miller who led all scorers with 25 points. Carter Mann was top man for Burwell with a team high 24. Anselmo-Merna improves to 15-7 and advances into the boys sub-state tournament and will play Laurel-Concord-Coleridge for the D1-3 district championship for a trip to the boys state basketball tournament in Lincoln. The game is scheduled to be played Tuesday (March 3rd) at Boone Central High School in Albion with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com
Broken Bow saw its season come to an end at the C1-10 subdistrict tournament in Burwell Thursday as they fell to O’Neill 62-54. One of the big story lines was the free throw line. O’Neill got into the double bonus early in the second half and went to the line 23 times in the fourth quarter and made 18 to hold off the Indians. Broken Bow was led by Keegan Baxter who had a team high 14 points.
The Mullen Broncos advanced to the district finals with a 53-37 win over Wallace at the D2-10 subdistrict tournament at North Platte St. Pat’s. Mullen will be the #4 seed in the boys sub-state tournament and will play Exeter Milligan in the D2-4 district title game on Saturday with tip off scheduled for 6 p.m. central at Lexington High School.
