The Broken Bow American Legion Seniors baseball team concluded its regular season Thursday with a doubleheader on the road at Lexington. The Bow bats were alive as they scored 22 runs combined in the doubleheader sweep.
In game one, Bow fell behind 3-1 in the first inning but a four run 2nd inning and four run fourth helped Bow seize control en route to an 11-3 win. Blake Denson was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Cyrus Wells was also 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Clay Brandon picked up the win going 5 innings and giving up 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 6.
Game two was another dominating performance for the Bow Seniors. Bow scored in every inning closing it out with 4 runs in the 6th to collect an 11-1 win. Clay Brandon was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI and a run scored and Sam Loy was 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Blake Denson was the winning pitching going 5 innings giving up just one run on 3 hits and striking out 7.
Broken Bow improves to 9-8 and will now prepare for the Mid Nebraska League tournament. Bow opens play as the #3 seed in the west division and will play at Gothenburg on Tuesday at 6:30 pm. The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com.
