Bow Seniors Go 3-2 at Alliance Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team competed at the Alliance tournament over the weekend going 3-2.

Bow faced York in their opening game on Friday.  It was a high scoring affair with Broken Bow coming out on top 14-12.  York led 12-7 after five innings but Broken Bow would score 5 runs in the sixth to tie the game then scored two more in the 7th to complete the comeback.  The Bow seniors pounded out 18 hits in the game.  Austin Harvey and Max Denson were each 3 for 5 in the game.  Brody Ridder and Eli Coble led the team in RBI with 3 each.

Bow faced Sidney in their second game and fell 16-2 in five innings.  Sidney scored six runs in their first at bat then added seven more in the fourth to put the game away.  Broken Bow was held to just two hits.  Brice Chaplin was 1 for 2 with a triple and a run scored.

The Bow seniors played two games on Saturday starting with a 12-9 win over Torrington, WY.  The game was tied 8-8 after six innings but Broken Bow outscored Torrington 4-1 in the 7th inning to collect the win.  Eli Coble, Austin Harvey, and Max Denson all had three hit performances.  Coble was 3 for 4 with 4 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Harvey was 3 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI and Denson was 3 for 4 with a run scored and 3 RBI.

Broken Bow fell to the host team Alliance on Saturday 11-9.  The Alliance win was keyed by an 8 run second inning.  Bow outhit Alliance 10-8.  Caden Holm, Brody Ridder, and Kaden McKean all had multi hit games.  Holm was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI, Ridder was 2 for 3 with two runs batted in and Kaden McKean was 2 for 3 with a run scored and 1 RBI.

In their final game of the tournament on Sunday, Bow defeated Westco 11-3 in five innings. Max Denson had a five RBI day highlighted by his 3rd home run at the seniors level this season. Denson was 2 for 4 and also scored two runs. Caden Holm had a three hit day going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and two runs batted in. Hagen Campbell picked up the win going 3 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 5 hits with one strikeout. Sawyer Bumgarner pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

The Bow seniors are now 11-9 on the season. Broken Bow will host McCook for a juniors and seniors doubleheader on Tuesday at Paul Brown Field.
