The Broken Bow American Legion Seniors baseball team went on the road Friday to play Class A North Platte in a doubleheader.
In game one, Bow out hit North Platte 7 to 4 but fell a run short dropping the opening game of the doubleheader 2-1. Sawyer Bumgarner drove in Bow’s lone run in the third inning to tie the game at one but North Platte would score in the bottom of the 4th and hang on for the win. Blake Denson started the game going 4 innings giving up just 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 2. Austin Harvey pitched two innings of shutout relief surrendering just 1 hit and striking out 2.
Game two was another close one with the majority of the action coming in the 5th inning. Trailing 1-0, Blake Denson and Caden Holm each drove in a run to give Broken Bow the lead 2-1 but North Platte responded quickly with 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead and held on for a 5-2 win.
The Bow seniors are now 6-4 on the season and will next travel to take on Cozad Sunday as part of a juniors and seniors doubleheader.
