Bow Seniors Baseball Season Ends at Area Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion Seniors baseball team saw its season come to an end Saturday as Bow was eliminated from the Class B Area 6 tournament in Holdrege with an 11-1 loss to Kearney County. The game was scoreless going to the 4th inning when Sam Peterson drove in Kiefer Anderson from third base on a ground out to give Broken Bow a 1-0 lead. The lead was short lived as Kearney County came back with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. Kearney County would add 2 more in the fifth and then put the game away in the 6th as they sent 11 men to the plate and scored 6 runs to make the score 11-1 and end the game by the ten run rule. Broken Bow ends the season at 6-14.

In other action on Saturday, Holdrege eliminated Cozad 5-4 and McCook defeated Gothenburg 7-0.

On Sunday, Gothenburg stayed alive by eliminating Kearney County 13-3 and Holdrege handed McCook its first loss of the tournament 5-4.

There are three teams still alive for the championship. Today (7/23), Holdrege will play Gothenburg at 4:30 with the winner advancing to play McCook at 7pm for the tournament title.
