Bow Juniors End Season at State Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion juniors baseball team saw its season come to an end Sunday at the American Legion Class B State Juniors Tournament.  Broken Bow dropped a heartbreaker to Arlington in the elimination round 5-4.  Arlington grabbed a 5-0 lead after four innings when Broken Bow’s bats finally came alive.  Bow scored 3 runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth to climb to within a run going into the seventh inning.  Carter Johnson and Caden Holm each walked to start the 7th inning.  Broken Bow would later load the bases in the inning but could not bring the tying or go ahead runs across as Arlington held on for the win.

Hagan Campbell led the Bow offense going 2 for 3 including a double, a run scored, and an RBI.  Carter Johnson was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI.  Eli Coble started the game on the mound going 3 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits.  Carter Johnson pitched 3 innings of relief giving up 3 runs in his first inning of work but held Arlington scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings as Bow tried to mount a comeback.

The Bow juniors end their historic season with a 24-2 overall record, a Mid Nebraska League title, an area tournament title, and an appearance at the state tournament.

Several of this years juniors players will now move up to the seniors level as Broken Bow will begin play in the Class B Area 6 seniors tournament which begins later this week.  Bow is the #2 seed in the tournament and will open against Cozad Friday (7/23) evening at 5 p.m. in Minden.
