Bow Juniors Drop a Heartbreaker in Round One of State Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion juniors baseball team opened play at Class B state tournament Saturday in Wahoo.  Bow dropped a heartbreaker to the host team 5-4.  After each team scored a run in the first inning, Wahoo scored two in the third to take a 3-1 lead.  The score remained that way until the fifth when Broken Bow put together a two out rally and scored two to tie the game.  The score remained tied 3-3 going into the 7th when Brice Chaplin came around to score on a throwing error to give Broken Bow the lead.  In the bottom of the 7th, Wahoo loaded the bases on three straight walks with one out and scored the tying run on a shallow fly ball to center that dropped for a hit.  Wahoo then scored the winning run on an error claiming a walk off win 5-4.  Broken Bow had only two hits in the game.  Max Denson was 1 for 3 with 1 RBI and Coy Wardyn was 1 for 3 with an infield single in the 7th which led to the run that gave Broken Bow a 4-3 lead.  With the loss, Broken Bow drops down to the elimination bracket where they will face Hickman Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.  The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com.
