Bow Juniors and Seniors Split Doubleheader with Lexington

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors and Seniors baseball teams hosted Lexington for a doubleheader Monday night at Paul Brown Field.

The Bow seniors snapped a three game losing streak by defeating Lexington 10-2.  Broken Bow scored 10 runs on 10 hits.  Sawyer Bumgarner was 2 for 3 including a 2 run homer in the first inning to put Bow in front early.  Keifer Anderson was 2 for 3 and drove in Coy Johnson for the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Blake Denson pitched a complete game for the win.  Denson was at times untouchable giving up just 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 12 on the night.  With the win, the Bow seniors improve to 7-5.

The Bow juniors suffered just their second loss of the season falling to Lexington 5-3.  The game was tied 3-3 after four but Lexington would score one run in the 5th and another in the 7th.  Broken Bow had the tying runs on base in the 7th but could not score as Lexington collected the win.  Austin Harvey was a perfect 4 for 4 with 2 RBI and Sawyer Bumgarner was 3 for 4 with an RBI.  The Bow juniors are now 8-2 on the season.

The Bow juniors and seniors will host Ogallala for a doubleheader Tuesday night at Paul Brown Field.  The juniors game is scheduled for 5:30 with the seniors game to follow at 8 pm.  The seniors game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM with video streamed live on the sandhillsexpress.com facebook page.
