Area Wrestlers Prepare for District Competition

Area wrestlers will look to fulfill their goal of making the state wrestling championships next week in Omaha as they compete at districts Friday and Saturday. The top four finishers in each weight class will qualify for the state tournament February 14-16 at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.

The C-4 district meet will take place at the Broken Bow high school gymnasium on Friday and Saturday. Joining Broken Bow at the meet will be Bridgeport, Cambridge, Chase County, Gordon-Rushville, Hemingford, Hershey, Kearney Catholic, Kimball, Loomis/Bertrand, Minden, Mitchell, Ord, Perkins County, Southern Valley, and Valentine.

Burwell and Twin Loup will be among the teams competing at the D-1 district meet at Neligh-Oakdale. Amherst will host the D-2 district which includes Anselmo-Merna, Ansley/Litchfield, Arcadia/Loup City, and SEM. South Loup will travel to Midland University for the D-3 district meet and Mullen, Sandhills/Thedford, and Stapleton will be among the teams at the D-4 district in Sutherland.
