The Nebraska Schools Activities Association released the brackets and pairings Saturday for the Class D1 and D2 playoffs which begin Thursday. Checking out some of the area matchups in round one. In Class D2, Sandhills/Thedford secured the D2-9 district championship last Friday with an impressive win over previously undefeated Pleasanton. The Knights went undefeated through the regular season for the second year in a row and will enter the D2 playoffs as the #2 seed in the west bracket. S/T will host Axtell in the opening round on Thursday. After winning just one game a year ago, the Ansley/Litchfield Spartans are headed to the playoffs. A/L finished the season 5-3 and are the #10 seed in the D2 west bracket. The Spartans will play on the road at #7 Riverside Thursday. Mullen is the #11 seed. The Broncos had a strong finish to the season and will travel to face Pleasanton on Thursday.
In Class D1, Anselmo-Merna gets into the playoffs with a 4-4 record. AM is the 15 seed in the west bracket and will travel to face the 2 seed Dundy County Stratton in the opening round. Arcadia/Loup City started the season 0-2 but is getting healthy at the right time and finished the season winning 5 of their last 6 games. The Rebels are the #9 seed and will face Amherst in the opening round. The undefeated Burwell Longhorns are the top seed in the west and will open the playoffs at home against North Central.
After the opening round, the teams will be re-seeded for the round of 16.
