The Omaha World Herald released its preseason High School Football rankings this past weekend. The Mullen Broncos are preseason rated #1 in Class D2 according to the publication. Other top rated teams include : Class A – Omaha Burke ; Class B – York ; Class C1 – Aurora ; Class C2 – Norfolk Catholic ; Class D1 – Creighton ; Six man – Harvard. Several area teams make the preseason top ten in their respective class. Gothenburg is rated #7 in Class C1. Meanwhile, The OWH ranks Kearney Catholic at #9. The Stars will open their season against Broken Bow Friday night at Mark Russell Field. In Class D1, 2017 state runners-up South Loup are ranked #5. Burwell is ranked 9th and Arcadia/Loup City #10 in the preseason rankings. Twin Loup cracks the preseason top ten in Class D2 at #10. The Wolves will open their season Thursday night when they host Anselmo-Merna in Sargent.
