Area Teams Compete in District Track Today

Area teams will compete today in district track and field in classes C and D.  Several area teams will compete at the D-8 district track championships in Broken Bow at Mark Russell Field.  Area teams scheduled to compete include Anselmo-Merna, Ansley/Litchfield, Mullen, Sandhills Valley, Sandhills/Thedford, SEM, and Twin Loup.  Other teams joining them in the district will be Brady, North Platte St. Pat’s, Overton, and Paxton.  Central Nebraska’s Sports Source will provide live updates of results during today’s meet.  Reports can be heard hourly on KBBN 95.3 FM beginning in the 11 a.m. hour.

South Loup and Arcadia/Loup City will compete in Class C districts today.  South Loup will be at the C-8 district in Southern Valley and Arcadia/Loup City will be at the C-6 district competition at Centura.

The state qualifying standards for Class C and D district meets are as follows. The top two places of each individual running event will qualify for state plus the next six fastest times of all non qualifiers.  The winners of each relay event will qualify for state plus the next seven fastest times of the non qualifiers.  The top two places in the following field events, long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus, will qualify for the state meet plus the next six best performances of the non-qualifiers across all districts.  The top two places in the pole vault and high jump will qualify plus all who achieve the additional qualifier mark.  The marks are as follows – Class C girls pole vault 10′, Class D girls pole vault 9′, Class C boys pole vault – 13’3″, Class D boys pole vault 12’8″, Class C girls high jump 5’1″, Class D girls high jump 4’11”, Class C boys high jump 6’1″, Class D boys high jump 6′.
