Area Participants Take Home High Honors at Nebraska Youth Smallbore Silhouette Invitational

The 2018 Nebraska Youth Smallbore Silhouette Invitational took place this past Saturday at the Pressey Wildlife Management Area south of Broken Bow. The event was open to all Hunter Education Graduates who have not yet graduated high school. It is organized and hosted each year by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Hunter Education Program in conjunction with the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation as well as local and regional volunteers and supporters. There were 72 competitors and 17 teams this year from all across the state of Nebraska. Many local youth competed in this event with a number of individuals and teams placing for awards. Some of the area highlights included Sadye Glendy of Broken Bow taking “High Girl” Honors. Cort West of Merna was “1st Class B”. Cora Cooper of Ansley was “1st Novice LS”, and Matthew Dailey of Thedford was “1st LI”. In the team competition, the Anselmo-Merna High School Team of Joel Finney, Cort West, Troy Kirkpatrick, and Kade Safranek placed first in the school division.
