In area high school football Thursday night, Ansley/Litchfield and SEM each collected their first wins of the season. Ansley/Litchfield defeated Ravenna 28-12 and SEM knocked off Stuart in six man action 68-30.
Twin Loup hosted Anselmo-Merna and Ansley/Litchfield for a volleyball triangular Thursday night in Sargent. Ansley/Litchfield opened with a straight set win over Twin Loup 25-15, 25-21. The final two matches of the tri both went 3 sets. Anselmo-Merna edged Ansley/Litchfield in the middle match 26-24, 23-25, 25-20. In the final match of the night, Twin Loup took the first set from Anselmo-Merna 25-19 but AM fought back to win sets 2 and 3 by identical scores of 25-18.
Broken Bow and Gothenburg battled in a five set thriller Thursday night at the Indian gym. The two teams went back and forth with Gothenburg taking the opening set 25-22. Bow fought back to take set two 25-21. Broken Bow took set three 25-23 but Gothenburg tied the match winning set four 25-16. Broken Bow would prevail in the fifth 15-13 to improve to 3-0 on the season.
