Area Cowboys and Cowgirls Shine at Nebraska High School Rodeo in Bloomfield

The Nebraska High School Rodeo made a stop in Bloomfield for two performances over the weekend. Once again, some great performances were turned in by area cowboys and cowgirls. Madison Mills of Eddyville was the girls all around champion on Saturday placing third in the barrels and winning the pole bending in a time of 21.048. Brody McAbee of Ansley won the saddle broncs both Saturday and Sunday. His winning ride on Saturday scored a 70 and the winning ride on Sunday was a 71. Brooke McCully posted the winning time in the barrel racing both Saturday (15.644) and Sunday (15.845). Dane Pokorny of Stapleton won the steer wrestling Saturday with a time of 5.45 and Matt Miller of Callaway won the tie down roping Saturday in a time of 10.89.

On Sunday, Coy Johnston of Stapleton captured the boys all around title. Johnston had a top ten finish in the steer wrestling (6th) and tie down roping (3rd). Cooper Bass of Brewster won the boys cutting Sunday with a 73 and Cooper Phillips of Burwell won the tie down roping in a time of 10.61 seconds.
