Area Cowboys and Cowgirls Qualify for National High School Finals Rodeo

The 2020 State High School Finals Rodeo came to its conclusion on Saturday in Burwell.  Strong performances were turned in by area cowboys and cowgirls as they fought to finish in the top four of the year end standings of their respective event to advance to the national finals.  The following competitors from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area qualified for the national finals to be held next month in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Madison Mills (Eddyville) – State champion in pole bending and 3rd in barrel racing

Cooper Bass (Brewster) – 4th in boys cutting and 4th in reined cow horse

Slate Micheel (Sargent) – 4th in barebacks

Taci Flinn (Arcadia) – 2nd in barrel racing

Jace Hurlburt (Arcadia) – 3rd in breakaway roping

Brody McAbee (Ansley) – 2nd in saddle broncs

Zane Kreikemeier (Callaway ) and Coy Johnston (Stapleton) – 4th in team roping

Andrea Meyer (Stapleton) – State champion in light rifle shooting

Frazier Kaelin (Ansley) – 4th in light rifle shooting
