Area Cowboys and Cowgirls Have Strong Showing at Rodeos in Hyannis and Arthur

Area cowboys and cowgirls competing in Nebraska High School Rodeo travelled out west this past weekend to compete at rodeos in Hyannis and Arthur.  Some of the area highlights from Saturday’s rodeo in Hyannis included Cody Miller of Broken Bow winning the boys cutting with a score of 74.  Zachary Miller of Callaway teamed with Jace Rosentreader of Lexington for a runner-up finish in the team roping with a time of 11.34 seconds.  On Sunday in Arthur, Brooke McCulley of Mullen was the girls all around champion.  McCulley tied for first in the barrels with a winning time of 18.82 seconds and placed third in the breakaway roping with a time of 2.85.  Spencer DeNaeyer of Seneca won the bareback riding with a score of 64 and Brody McAbee of Ansley won the saddle broncs with a score of 73.  Zane Kreikemeier of Callaway posted the winning time in the tie down roping at 10.61 seconds.  Runner-up finishes on Sunday went to Cooper Bass of Brewster in the boys cutting and Coy Johnston of Stapleton in the steer wrestling.
