Area Cowboys and Cowgirls Compete at High School Rodeos in Hyannis and Arthur

The Nebraska High School rodeo season continued this past weekend with performances at Hyannis on Saturday and Arthur on Sunday.  Some of the area highlights on Saturday included Merna’s Sid Miller winning the tie down roping in a time of 11.36.  Slate Micheel of Sargent was runner-up in the steer wrestling with a time of 6.36 seconds.  Cooper Kursave of Arcadia was runner-up in the bull riding with a score of 68 and the Brewster team of Cooper Bass and Zack Bradley was runner up in the team roping with a time of 18.88 seconds.

On Sunday, Cooper Kursave was first in the bull riding with a winning ride of 75.  Cooper Bass and Zack Bradley, both of Brewster, won the team roping in a time of 7.75 seconds and Cooper Bass tied for first in the boys cutting with a score of 148.  Matthew Miller of Callaway won the tie down roping on Sunday in a time of 10.72.  Other area highlights included Whitney Jennings of Seneca finishing second in the breakaway roping and Spencer DeNaeyer of Seneca was second in the barebacks with a score of 70.

High school rodeo contestants are scheduled to compete in Burwell this weekend.
