The New West All Star Classic begins today with the All Star volleyball matches and will continue Friday with the All Star girls and boys basketball games. The all star games feature athletes from the following conferences : Southwest Conference, Fort Kearny Conference, Rep. Plains Activities Conference, and the Lou Platte Conference. The event will take place in Minden and is organized to benefit the Nebraska Kidney Association.
In today’s all star volleyball matches, the Southwest Conference will face the Lou Platte Conference and the Fort Kearny Conference will go up against the RPAC in the opening round with the championship and consolation matches to follow. Tonight’s matches are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. The SWC All Star volleyball team will include Broken Bow grads Emma Schall, Kali Staples, Kassidy Cyboron, Cami Schweitzer, and Halle Jacobsen.
The girls and boys all star basketball games will be played Friday in Minden. Girls games will tip off at 5 p.m. with the boys to follow. Matchups will feature the Southwest Conference vs Lou Platte Conference and FKC vs RPAC. Kali Staples and Kassidy Cyboron of Broken Bow will be among those playing for the girls SWC all stars. On the boys side, Broken Bow’s Dylan Baum will be on the SWC roster and Drew Lewandowski of Arcadia/Loup City will suit up for the Lou Platte all stars. Tycen Bailey and Jeff Cunningham of Ansley/Litchfield as well as Carson Rohde of SEM will be among the area athletes competing for the Fort Kearny Conference all stars.
