Stapleton hosted the annual Dave Blevins Track and Field Meet on Friday (5/4) in Arnold. South Loup claimed the boys team championship with 117 points. Mullen was second with 89 points and Hershey was finished third with 70 points. Some of the individual area highlights included Nolan Marten of Sandhills/Thedford winning the boys 100 meters in a time of 11.2 and winning the 200 in a time of 23 flat. Tell Spies of Mullen won both the boys discus (158′ 6.5″) and shot put (51′).
On the girls side, North Platte St. Pat’s was the team champion with 122 points. South Loup was runner-up with 84 points and Maxwell was third with 79. Area highlights included South Loup’s Jadeyn Bubak winning both the 100 (12.2) and the 200 (25.9). Samantha Moore of Mullen won the girls 100 meter hurdles (16.10) and the 300 meter hurdles (49.1). In the field events, Jessie Sallach of South Loup claimed gold in the girls shot put (37′) and the discus (122′ 6.5″).
