The University of Nebraska at Kearney hosted its annual high school cross country invitational at the Kearney Country Club on Monday.
Trevor Kuncl of Mullen was the Class D boys individual champion. Kuncl won the Class D competition in a winning time of 17:09.08. Ty Greenland of Arcadia/Loup City finished in the top 15 placing 11th in a time of 19:01. 97. North Platte St. Pat’s was the Class D boys team champion with Nebraska Christian finishing as the runner-up.
Broken Bow placed 9th in the Class C boys team standings. The Class C team champion was Sidney with Milford finishing as the runner-up. The individual champion was Carson Noecker of Hartington-Newcastle in a winning time of 15:32. Broken Bow placed two runners in the top 15. Noah Osmond placed 9th in a time of 17:29.52 and Daine Wardyn was 11th in a time of 17:33.49.
Callie Coble and Peyton Paxton of Mullen finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Class D girls race. Hannah Swanson of Nebraska Christian was the individual champion in a winning time of 20:57.92. Coble was the runner-up in a time of 21:24.77 and Paxton was right behind in third with a time of 21:30.04. Three other area runners placed in the top 50. Josie Smith of SEM was 30th (24:09.20), Ivy Tullis of South Loup was 40th (24:58.58) and Ella Cool of South Loup finished 43rd (25:03.91).
The Class C girls team championship went to Lincoln Christian with Douglas County West the runner-up. Broken Bow placed 6th in the girls team standings. The individual champion was Keeli Green of Arlington in a winning time of 19:00.81. Makinley Tobey led the way for Broken Bow placing 14th in a time of 21:55.82. Cassidy Schweitzer of Broken Bow placed in the top 30 finishing 29th in a time of 22:58.33. Mallory Applegate of Cozad was a top ten finisher placing 6th in a time of 21:24.99.
