Area Athletes Compete at Don Bader Track Invite in Lexington

Lexington hosted the Don Bader track and field invite Friday. The meet featured teams and athletes from all four classifications in Nebraska high school sports. Among the area highlights, Samantha Moore of Mullen swept the girls hurdles winning the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.04 and won the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 48.6. Hadlee Safranek of Anselmo-Merna placed in the top 5 of the girls long jump finishing 4th with an effort of 15’11” and was 5th in the 400 with a time of 1:02.76. Madison Smith of Gothenburg was runner-up in the girls discus (126’6″). Aubrey O’Hare of Gothenburg was runner-up in the 300 meter hurdles (49.31). Bella Rickertson of Gothenburg won the girls 100 in a time of 13.17. Callie Coble of Mullen was 5th in the 3200 (12:25.64).

On the boys side, Carson Rohde of SEM had a strong day finishing 2nd in both the shot put and discus. Rohde was 2nd to North Platte’s Nic Davis in each event. Rohde was just 2 inches short of first in the discus going 168’5″ and his second place effort in the shot put was an impressive 53’3.5″. Jaden Emerson of Mullen was 5th in the boys 200 (23.88). Wes Geiken of Gothenburg was 4th in the 400 (52.65). William Anderson of Gothenburg was 3rd in the 800 (2:04.54). In the 3200, Parker Graves of Gothenburg was 2nd (10:27.92), Trevor Kuncl of Mullen was 3rd (10:31.14), and Ethan Olson of Gothenburg was 4th (10:39.27).
