Area Athletes Compete at 2018 Custer County Track Meet

Five teams competed at the annual Custer County track and field meet at Mark Russell Field in Broken Bow on Thursday. Teams included Anselmo-Merna, Ansley/Litchfield, Broken Bow JV’s, Twin Loup, and Elba. Here are some of the highlights from the meet. On the girls side, Sarah Lewis of Ansley/Litchfield and Cali Van Diest of Twin Loup won gold in 3 individual events. Lewis won the 400 meter dash (1:01.8), the 100 meter hurdles (15.5), and the 300 meter hurdles (48.4). Van Diest placed first in the 3200 meter run (14:02.4), the 1600 meter run (6:50.00) and the 800 meter run (2:55.10). On the boys side, Justin Bailey of Ansley/Litchfield placed first in 3 individual events. Bailey won the high jump (5’6″), the 300 meter hurdles (42.5), and the 110 meter hurdles (16.8).
