Arcadia/Loup City and Burwell Compete at Ord Track Invite

Arcadia/Loup City and Burwell were among the teams that competed at the Ord track invitational on Thursday.  Ord and GICC tied for the boys team championship with 104 points and Ord won the girls team title with 112 points.  Burwell finished fifth in the boys team standings with 55 points and ALC finished with 25 points.  On the girls side, Arcadia/Loup City finished with 49 points and Burwell had 25.

ALC secured three gold medals on the day.  Two of those golds went to Jessica Stieb who continued her great season in the girls throwing events.  Stieb won the girls discus with an effort of 125′ 10″ and also won the girls shot put with a winning effort of 40′ 6″.  The Rebels also took gold in the boys 3200 meter run where Ty Greenland posted the winning time of 10:57.76.

The Burwell track team also claimed three golds on the day.  Cash Gurney was the champion of the boys 200 with a winning time of 23.08 seconds.  Carter Mann had a strong day in the boys throwing events winning the discus with an effort of 154′ 1″ and finished as the runner-up in the boys shot put.  On the girls side, Nikia Williams took gold in the high jump clearing the winning height of 5′.

Arcadia/Loup City and Burwell will both return to Ord next week on May 13th where they will join South Loup and others for the C-8 district track and field championships.
