The Anselmo-Merna volleyball team began its season this past weekend at the Overton Invitational. AM went to 2-1 during the tournament to finish 3rd overall. AM began the tournament with a straight set win over Hitchcock County 25-19, 25-17 but then fell to the host team Overton in the semifinals in straight sets 17-25, 21-25. The Lady Coyotes came back strong in the 3rd place match defeating North Platte St. Pat’s in 3 sets 25-15, 18-25, 25-19. Overton was the tournament champion defeating Central Valley in the title match 2 sets to 1 19-25, 25-19, 25-22. Anselmo-Merna will host Twin Loup and Ansley/Litchfield for a triangular on Thursday which will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM.
