North Platte Community College hosted the Mid Plains Area All Star Basketball games over the weekend. The boys game had to go extra time to determine a winner. The black team, coached by Dustin Jorgensen of Hershey, came back to beat the gold in overtime 76-74. Jacob Gosnell of Hershey led the way for team black with a double double scoring a game high 24 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Nate Neil of Cozad was also among those who competed in the game.
The girls game was also won by team black by a final of 65-37. Kaleigh Kummer of North Platte St. Pat’s was one of the standout players scoring 17 points in less than 16 minutes of playing time. Competing in Saturday’s girls all star game from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area were Kourtney Safranek, Rebecca Maring, and Taylan Myers of Anselmo-Merna ; Kaitlyn Crowe of Mullen ; Marlee Taylor of Sandhills/Thedford.
